Over the past few weeks we have a many people ask if they can purchase a gift certificate – either for the end of the 2011 season or for an event in 2012. We are pleased to announce that the Wings and Slicks certificates are now available. These certificates have an added bonus: some of them include a big discount with some major savings.

We currently have three certificates for purchase:

Gift Certificates may be redeemed at any time within twelve months of purchase and can be used for the 2012 season. All certifcates can be paid for through Paypal. Please note that you do not need a Paypal account to purchase these certificates.

More Open Wheel Racing in Texas

Stunt Driving Experience at Mosport

The Wings and Slicks Stunt Driving Experience will be at Mosport Park on October 22 for the first time. Mosport has excellent facilities and participants are in for a real treat this Saturday as they will be driving at the home of Canada’s motorsport.

The Program begins with a short classroom session for some basic driving tips and safety rules, then participants are split into small groups and introduced to their track instructor.

Stunts will include extreme handbrake turns and the reverse 180 degree spin – a real crowdpleaser at the movies!

Spaces are still available for this weekend, so cash in those reward points or buy one of our new gift certificates.

Driving in the Rain

Duncan Kwok recently posted a video of his experiences driving in the rain. The video demonstrates how the wet surfaces affects the slick tires and also shows how easy it is to lose control in the rain. At the end of the day, Duncan Kwok said:

“Absolutely fantastic experience. Both dry and wet. Great setup, friendly staff and fast cars, I couldn’t have asked for more.”

Cold Days but Hot Cars

Although Toronto had its first chilly weekend of the Fall, spirits weren’t dampened at the Wings & Slicks event in Barrie. Groups from the Living Social and Team Buy programs took part in the Formula Car experience as well as other individuals and the feedback has been overwhelmingly enthusiastic.

Many drivers video their first drive or have someone video them. This weekend Duncan Kwok took an unusual approach with the video of his first session. He mounted the camera down low and pointed it back towards himself rather than forward at the track. The result is a new perspective on both the experience and the Barrie track. The viewer also gains a sense of just how fast these cars can go.

Dates for Texas Now Available

We now have the dates for our Texas Race Experience. We will be at Texas Motor Speedway located in the northernmost portion of the U.S. city of Fort Worth. It has an excellent infield racetrack where drivers can experience the thrill of an open wheel race car on an open wheel track.

Wings and Slicks goes to Texas Motor Speedway

We are now offering a new race car experience for Texans. Wings and Slicks is expanding to the Dallas Fort-Worth area and will be making available the Half Day and Pursuit Series during the month of November. The venue is the Texas Motor Speedway. It has a full in field race track so participants will get the rush of an open wheel race car on an open wheel track. View the facility map.

Wings and Slicks President, Hans Wolter said “We are really excited to be moving to Texas this November. Not only does the opportunity extend our season but also takes the Wings and Slicks experience to a fantastic venue in the United States. Everything is bigger in Texas and our race car event will be no exception.”

There will be multiple locations offered in the Dallas Fort Worth area so stay tuned as more details become available.

Formula North rides a Formula Car

On September 10, Wings and Slicks had the Formula North team go through the paces in a Formula Car. Formula North is a student-design competition which will take place in Ontario, Canada in May 2012. The competition is set to follow similar organizational and technical framework as the Formula SAE/Student series held all around the world. As part of the 2012 dynamic events prize, Formula North got a taste of the Formula Car rush.
